Julio Velarde, the president of BCRP (Central Reserve Bank of Peru), elaborated that Peru is advancing toward the establishment of a monetary system for digital money that would resolve the issues emerging in the financial domain.
Peru Intends to have a CBDC

Nonetheless, Velarde pointed out that currently, they are not prepared for the implementation of such a financial solution. He mentioned Singapore and India to be the countries that are assisting it in the move. He expressed the intention that the country does not want to be lagging in this situation. Notwithstanding his caution, the project of CBDC may be nearer than estimated.
